What makes “The Paul Singh Trauma Center” so different?
What makes “The Paul Singh Trauma Center” so different? When your life is broken, finding the right help can make all the difference. Trauma can be broadly defined as an overwhelming event that taxes one’s ability to cope. In every traumatic life event there is a profound sense of helplessness and powerlessness; the event, not the affected individual, is in control. Addictive illnesses create similar dynamics in the lives of those who have them. Compulsion and obsession, hallmark symptoms of addiction, become the driving forces of daily life. A sense of control and self-determination gives way in active addiction, and the unmanageability of life becomes primary for the addicted.
Addiction is a chronic disease characterized by drug seeking and use that is compulsive, or difficult to control, despite harmful consequences. The initial decision to take drugs is voluntary for most people, but repeated drug use can lead to brain changes that challenge an addict’s and co-addict’s (co-dependent’s) self-control and interfere with their ability to resist intense urges to take drugs. These brain changes can be persistent, which is why drug addiction is considered a “relapsing” disease—people in recovery from drug use disorders are at increased risk for returning to drug use even after years of not taking the drug.
“The Paul Singh Trauma Center” helps individuals, couples and families find wholeness, hope, and lasting change that transforms them from the inside out. We do intensive counseling so you can heal and unlock your passion, giftedness and purpose!
What is Intensive Counseling?
Reboot Your Life. Rescue Your Relationships. Restore Your Freedom.
Schedule Appointments: 763.525.9900
Intensive counseling at “The Paul Singh Trauma Center” is a powerful model of integrating therapeutic “soul care” and “spirit care” which is time limited, goal driven, depth oriented, and highly concentrated.
Intensive counseling may best be understood in contrast to traditional counseling where appointments are scheduled in 50-minute sessions.
Time Limited – Traditional counseling has no predetermined endpoint and can be sporadic, unfocused and inefficient. At “The Paul Singh Trauma Center” every intensive has a fixed endpoint one or two weeks out. As daily three-hour sessions build upon one another, both client and counselor gain clarity and tremendous focus.
Goal Driven – Traditional counseling can take weeks or months to establish clear goals and a realistic plan. At “The Paul Singh Trauma Center” we work with clients in advance to establish clear goals before, during and after the intensive. Intensive counseling allows the counselor to “begin with the end in mind” in a way that is virtually impossible with traditional counseling.
Depth Oriented – The author of The Book of Proverbs wrote, “the purposes of a person’s heart are deep waters.” Depth-oriented counseling deals with issues below the waterline–motives and purposes of the heart, which are frequently outside our awareness. Traditional counseling may or may not be depth-oriented. But even in cases where it is, the course of counseling can last anywhere from six months to several years. Intensive counseling at “The Paul Singh Trauma Center” addresses core issues below the waterline in a matter of days.
Highly Concentrated – A concentrated substance–like orange juice or dishwashing liquid–has had all non-essential ingredients removed. In the same way, intensive counseling removes all “non-essential ingredients” for the duration of the intensive. By stepping away from normal routines and responsibilities–like work, family and managing day-to-day life–clients are able to bring all their resources and strengths to bear upon their situation.
What are the Benefits of Intensive Counseling?
The overall benefit of intensive counseling is that participants can make extraordinary gains in a relatively short period of time. In fact, many alumni of our intensive counseling programs report “life changing breakthrough” as a result of their experience with “The Paul Singh Trauma Center.”

What is the Format for Intensive Counseling?
The in-depth format of a “soul care” and “spirit care” counseling intensive allows individual, couples and families to meet for 1-5 days to experience a competent and accelerated healing and recovery process.
The format of the counseling intensives:
- Extended time away from normal pressures and responsibilities creates an environment to significantly address issues in a short amount of time.
- Daily assignments or other exercises are given for outside of session homework.
- Intensive focus creates the opportunity to move forward with clarity, direction, renewed purpose and substantial healing of issues and wounds.
- Each intensive is designed with ample time to explore personal and relational brokenness while emphasizing a well-worn path toward spirituality and healing.
- The balance of the time is often spent shopping or simply enjoying God’s beautiful creation in sunny Palm Springs, Beverly Hills or at the Pacific Ocean in Malibu.
Singh also provides the following holistic life change services for west coast residential treatment programs, PHPs, IOPs, outpatient rehab treatment programs and sober living homes:

Heal Your Trauma So You Can Live Your Best Life
“I’ve tried everything, and nothing has worked!”
One of the most frequent statements we hear from clients early on is “I’ve tried everything, and nothing has worked!” Often, this means that sincere and well-meaning attempts to “change” or manage the problem have failed.
Whether it’s reading the newest book, attending the latest spirituality or healing conference or going to a string of counselors, by the time people discover intensive counseling they are desperate for hope.
At “The Paul Singh Trauma Center” we’ve discovered again and again that the reason why “nothing has worked” is because of unprocessed and unaddressed trauma. This is good news because never before in the world of behavioral science has there been such clear understanding of trauma and its impact on the human brain and body.
Trauma can be healed! You or a family member or friend can be transformed.
At “The Paul Singh Trauma Center” we “get” how trauma impacts the brain and body.
Trauma can be defined as any life experience that is emotionally painful, distressing, or shocking and results in lasting mental and physical effects. Trauma is essentially a normal response to a distressing event or series of events. However, living with trauma is anything but normal.
When multiple attempts have failed to successfully address an issue, trauma is frequently the root, which needs to be addressed.
- Relational conflict where partners trigger one another
- Sexual difficulties and difficulties with intimacy
- Sexual addictions
- Alcohol and Drug Addictions
- Behavioral addictions and compulsions
Intensive counseling can be an optimal environment for the healing of trauma and deep wounding. Through daily sessions that build upon one another you will experience kindness and competency in a safe and caring environment as you tell your story.
- Understand the true impact of your story on your brain, body, soul and spirit.
- Connect the impact of trauma to present relational and behavioral struggles.
- Discover the maladaptive impact of self-protective survival strategies.
- Develop a toolbox full of skills and practices to empower you well beyond your intensive.
- Practice skills to regulate emotional and physiological distress.
- Experience powerful healing from EFT (Emotional Freedom Transformation).

“My husband and I were married for over 25 years when he told me he was unhappy, had been unhappy for many years, and might want a divorce. I was shocked. I knew we were having problems but was unaware of the depth of his unhappiness (or mine). We were both in individual counseling at the time, and started marriage counseling immediately after. Three months later he moved out.
Throughout this time we both tried our best to understand ourselves, each other, where we went wrong in our relationship, and what we each contributed to the seemingly insurmountable problems we were having. We were both very hurt, sad, confused, and unable to connect no matter how much we wanted to. We had little hope of staying married, and although devastated, neither of us was willing to continue the unhealthy relationship we were in.
A relative very close to me told me about licensed psychologist Paul Singh, and suggested gently but repeatedly that he might provide the help we needed. I was very skeptical at first, but because of my great respect for my relative’s insights and opinions, I thought it would be worth a try. If nothing else, I was hoping to learn more about myself and where I was going wrong so I didn’t repeat my mistakes in another relationship.
Paul’s help was beyond anything either of us could have imagined. We both have high regard for our couples therapist, but in his traditional, one-hour format we were unable to get to the core of our problems. Paul showed us visually, by writing on posters and a white board, everything we needed to really understand about where our pain originated, our own hurtful behaviors, and how we could communicate and connect in the way we truly want to — in a loving, kind and respectful way. The insights broke through our anger and defenses to a deep understanding of and compassion for each other. We were reminded during the process of what we love about each other, and how much we wanted to stay married.
Paul Singh’s process is unique and very effective, and he is an extremely gifted, intuitive man who can see through any chaos, get to the root of complex problems, and effectively communicate them to his clients in a kind, extremely honest, and direct way. We saw Paul for three straight days in what he calls a counseling intensive. In that time, our marriage changed from being seemingly beyond repair to providing a renewed sense of love, commitment and an intense desire to make it work.
We never thought this would be possible, but it is! I believe that any couple fortunate enough to have this opportunity with Paul Singh would forever benefit from his skill, wisdom, talent and insight. We will always be grateful for what Paul did for us and for our children. We are living a miracle. We are still married and happy once again.”

Paul Singh’s New Book
“Living Through the Storm: Lasting Change from the Inside Out”
Do you want to know the ancient secret which your modern day therapist never told you, your family or friends? Have you paid thousands of dollars in therapy for years and did not get anywhere? Did you try to get someone into therapy and they concluded “therapy does not work”? In times of stress, if you’re “self-medicating” anxiety or depression with an addiction to alcohol, drugs, food, sex, money or power, you really need to consider reading this book.
Beverly Hills Psychologist and Life Coach Paul Singh shows how most traditional therapy fails people. It targets only 25% of a person’s story. Who would seek surgery that removed just one-fourth of a cancer?
Singh not only insightfully addresses the 25%, he skillfully unveils the remaining 75%. By understanding 100% of their pain and what they’re doing with it, people will no longer just be managing their symptoms. They’ll be healing from the inside out. This is true healing, bringing lasting change. If you want more than merely to hope for, but rather to minimize, the chance of relapse and get lasting results, start by reading this book.
